yourmetalfriend Andy is such a phenomenally talented dude, he deserves all of the shred cred. Favorite track: 1988 (feat. Li-sa-X).

Christopher Tomke I've described Neverafter as the soundtrack to an unreleased JRPG, so imagine my delight at dispensing with the pretense. This album bangs from top to bottom.

about

“Arcade Metal” is the 2nd solo album by Andy Gillion (ex lead Guitarist/song-writer for Mors Principium Est).
It features appearances from video game composing legend Yuzo Koshiro, Matt Heafy, Jeff Loomis, Per Nilsson, Li-sa-X, Stephen Taranto and Paul Wardingham, with drums performed throughout by 66Samus.
The album was co-mixed and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Soilwork).

“Arcade Metal” is a video game themed instrumental shred album, comprised of soaring melodic guitar virtuosity, to the backdrop of a nostalgic 80s chip-tune soundscape. The album’s extravagant musicianship is tied together with progressive elements throughout, and delivers an incredible layering of retro sound design and modern metal. “Arcade Metal” is a love letter to video game soundtracks of old, opening with legendary gaming composer, Yuzo Koshiro (“Streets of Rage”, “Sonic the Hedgehog”) on synths, before an onslaught of virtuoso guitar guests join the ranks to transport the listener to a golden age of guitar shred and video game nostalgia.
